Qualifications for the Region 9 Board

Leadership:

  • Served as president of the National Hydropower Association (NHA), a Washington, D.C.-based trade association of utilities and others in the hydropower industry.
  • Served for three years as president of the Redding Boys & Girls Club, completing a major renovation program and initiating new programs to serve youth in the community.

 

Consensus-Building:

  • As Boys & Girls Club president, helped unite a divided board and end long-running conflicts with neighbors and Town commissions.
  • As NHA board member and president, helped heal board split and staff conflict through effective communications with "other" side.

 

Real-World Experience:

  • Key member of small team responsible for developing, financing, and completing a complex $600-million construction project, ahead of schedule and within budget.
  • Effective communicator in numerous professional and community venues: government relations, permit applications, marketing communications, presentations, published articles, etc.
  • Responsible for planning, budgeting, and management of numerous projects professionally, as well as for the Boys & Girls Club as Treasurer.

  • Regular observer, Region 9 board meetings
  • Public member, Region 9 Communications Committee
  • Since 2004, worked directly with current and previous board president on communications regarding budget and special referenda (all have passed)

  • Former coach, boys' baseball and basketball, 9 to 12 age range
